How to communicate with your dog
If you love your dog, then the best present you could ever give it is obedience training. All dogs were bred for a purpose. They have an innate desire to perform their functions and learn discipline. Obedience training gives them the outlet they are searching for. With new jobs, they become focused and happy. Contrary to popular myth you will not ruin your dogs personality, but instead enhanced it. He will become brighter eyed , most accepting of new situations and best of all, learn to communicate with you just by learning the basic commands.
Dogs utilize body language, vocal tones, scent, touch and taste in all their communication with each other. When training a dog, it is best to try to emulate he canine language in order to achieve faster access with complete understanding.
When using your voice, keep your frequency to a normal conversational level. A dog hears far better than we do, so there is no reason to shout at any time. Shouting will not get the point across faster, it will only show your dog that you are not in control.
There are three tones of voice you should use when training your dog. A high enthusiastic tone when praising, a demanding authoritative tone preceded by your dog’s name when giving a command, and a low growly tone when giving a reprimanding.
When praising your dog, use the word good repeatedly. When giving a command do so only once, so that your dog will learn to listen on the command and not wait until you have said it five times. Use the word no with all reprimands.
